LAUGH.LOVE.CREATE CHALK ART
IT STARTED ON A WHIM.....
One of my favorite and most misleading mediums is "chalk". Although its traditional form was not used for any of these! Naples Chalk Art event utilizes powdered tempera paint and my job at WFM utilizes a type of chalk paint pen. Either way, I'm happy to be able to "create" any way I can!!!
Hands down, Chalk Art 2013 was one of the best experiences I have ever had the opportunity to be a part of and I say this after essentially going into the event blind sighted my first time... Last year I came across a registration form for Chalk Art 2013 and thought... "Hey, why not."
Please keep in mind it had been a couple years since I had actually painted anything and I never in my life had attempted to "Create" a work of art that exceeded 3 feet by 3 feet...
Thankfully Paddy Murphy's Irish Pub was kind enough to sponsor me (participation begins at $200 and proceeds go to local charities that work with kids. A win win situation in my book) and I found myself with a 9 hour window and a 6 foot by 6 foot square.
While my square was not the best painting on 5th Ave (any artist that's utilized art school learns to critique honestly to themselves), I was quite proud at how it turned out considering it was my first attempt.
Once again in January 2014 I participated. I took on a much larger square and made my first attempt at giving it a "3d" feel that street chalk art has become so famous for. I feel it was very good practice for my next attempt in January 2015 (which will NOT look anything like my near identical themes of the past two years!!)
STAY TUNED FOR ROUND 3..........

I shudder every time I see it or hear it (I kind of clam up in front of camera's!)... but look out for my "cameo" around 2:34.
